Since its incorporation on 8 April 2024, The Pekoe Trail Company (Guarantee) Limited (TPTC) has continued the development and stewardship of The Pekoe Trail, Sri Lanka’s 300 km long distance hiking trail comprising 22 stages across the Central Highlands. Following the completion of the initial donor-funded development phase, the Company has taken responsibility for maintaining, managing and promoting the trail while developing a sustainable operating model that brings together tourism, community development, environmental conservation and private-sector partnerships.
TPTC work extends beyond the maintenance of a hiking route. The Pekoe Trail provides a platform for connecting visitors with tea heritage, rural communities, local enterprises and the natural environment. Through its partnerships and programmes, the Company seeks to ensure that the benefits of tourism extend beyond visitor numbers and contribute to local livelihoods, skills development, community wellbeing and the long-term stewardship of the landscapes through which the trail passes.
