The Pekoe Trail Organisation (TPTO)
Formed in April 2024, TPTO is a local nonprofit organisation dedicated to managing, maintaining, and promoting the trail in a sustainable manner.
TPTO is governed by a volunteer board of directors.
The day-to-day management of the trail, including trail maintenance, stakeholder engagement, development & maintenance of the trail’s digital assets marketing of the trail is handled by TPTO staff, ensuring the trail's continued success and sustainability.
The Pekoe Trail was transformed into a premier tourism destination through a three-year project concluded in April 2024, which was funded by the European Union and USAID.
Now the responsibility for managing the 300-kilometer trail—traversing 21 tea estates, sensitive landscapes, and local communities—rests with The Pekoe Trail Organisation (TPTO).
